The Gilded Age was derived from writer Mark Twain's 1873 novel The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today, which satirized an era of serious social problems masked by a thin gold gilding. We are living in another gilded age. Our world couldn't be more ironic. Income inequality, social justice, poverty, race, housing, the environment, simple fairness, all fester next door to places selling luxury goods to the wealthy. Dickson Schneider and Chris Rummell will create a beautiful micro thin layer of gold on the inside of the gallery window, manifesting these issues, drawing our attention to the great, weird, situation that is contemporary America.
